One Paragraph Reviews: Darksiders

by misterbinky

When playing as apocalyptic horseman War on a blood tinged quest to clear his name for starting an ill timed End of Days, you’d think Darksiders has much in common with another God of War.  However, War has more in common with Link than Kratos, and despite an underwhelming narrative, the tight combat and clever pastiche of gaming mechanics makes for satisfying dungeons that all focus on a particular addition to War’s sizable arsenal.  By the final Portal-inspired dungeon, this GWAR-ified Zelda send-up shows that imitation is not only a sincere form of flattery but an oddly satisfying one.
