One Paragraph Review: DJ Hero

by Mitchell Dyer

I’m not one to enjoy phat beatz, but scratching records to Black Eyed Peas/Benny Benassi remixes is quite the experience. Structurally, DJ Hero cribs from Guitar Hero by dropping notes onto a track and having you tap-tap-tap to the rhythm, and then adds enough flexibility to its bulky peripheral — a plastic mixing table with knobs, switches and a “vinyl” record — to give it its own feel. Speedily switching between two tracks in each mash-up is a challenging, enjoyable change of pace from blistering guitar strumming, though my disinterest and ignorance of the DJ Hero‘s music eventually led to boredom.
