One Paragraph Review: Lost Planet 2

One thing Lost Planet nailed was its scale. The vertically-inclined city scenery and wide-open wastelands meshed perfectly with mild exploration elements, gargantuan enemies and rad robot suits. Lost Planet 2 retains these ideas in its excellent online multiplayer mode, but inverts them entirely to accommodate its ham-fisted four-player co-op campaign. Whether you’re playing with friends or the brain-dead A.I. allies, the bland, repetitive objectives can’t compensate for the occasionally exciting boss fight. Worse, the cramped, linear level design flat out sucks for four. That the cool grappling hook serves no purpose is the final nail in the coffin.
